Rue Gilt Groupe is a members-only ecommerce flash-sale site serving more than 16 million members. The company needed to centralize structured data plus external demographic, census, geolocation, clickstream and email feeds into a single real-time platform; its legacy Hadoop/data-lake/warehouse stack couldn’t access clickstream and email and prevented a true 360-degree view of customers while adding cost and delay.

By moving to Snowflake and separating compute from storage, Rue Gilt Groupe consolidated data and gained real-time access to all sources. Marketing now has a complete customer view for targeted, personalized campaigns and campaign measurement; merchandising and planners use live site and sales data for smarter purchasing and to customize each member’s shopping experience; and development and operational processes have been simplified.
