A Snowflake Case Study
MaxMine, an Adelaide-based software and services provider for open-cut mines, helps operators use equipment telemetry to improve safety, reduce emissions and boost production. Faced with rapidly growing volumes of truck and site data, MaxMine’s original analytics architecture was slow, required specialist programming, and could take up to a week to deliver analyses—preventing same-day insights and limiting complex, long-range queries.
Adopting Snowflake as its cloud analytics store and engine (with dbt, Snowflake Collaboration and API options) let MaxMine process and share up to 16 TB of data efficiently. Analysis times fell by about 80% (weeklong analyses to a day, day-long analyses to an hour), one data engineer can now manage the stack, MVAP delivery time was halved to one week, and clients get near–real-time reports and measurable operational wins—such as extending tire life toward industry standards, cutting costs and embedded carbon—and a decoupled BI and development workflow.
