Deux Huit Huit's Impressive, Purely Custom Snipcart Integration

Deux Huit Huit, a Montréal interactive and branding agency, rebuilt e‑commerce for C’est Beau | Handwork, a Québec collective of artisans. The client was self‑funded and initially on a restrictive, non‑responsive Shopify theme that limited data access, multilingual support and design control, so the agency needed a flexible solution that let them keep full control of markup and UX without rebuilding a cart from scratch.

They integrated Snipcart into a Symphony CMS backend, wiring Snipcart’s JS/data attributes and using CSS to create a completely custom cart UI (about 40 hours of work). Minimal use of the API and webhooks handled inventory and shipping, Snipcart added needed API methods, and the result was a highly customized, responsive e‑commerce experience with streamlined payments, inventory sync, and developer-friendly control—parts of the integration will be open‑sourced for reuse.
