AstraZeneca, the global, science-led pharmaceutical company, shifted to a “cloud-first” IT strategy and faced the challenge of integrating numerous cloud applications (Salesforce, Adobe Campaign, etc.) with legacy on-premises systems across a highly distributed, federated organisation that could not support large specialised integration teams. The company needed a globally available, easy-to-use integration platform that generalist IT staff could use with minimal central support.
AstraZeneca selected SnapLogic in early 2015 — a browser-based, cloud-first integration platform with pre-built adapters — and used a light-touch training and governance model to push capability out to regional teams. The result: rapid adoption and scale (about 100 integrations in six months and over 300 by the end of 2015), wider user uptake across regions, a lean central team of 3–4 experts, and faster, lower-defect Salesforce integrations (reported as four times quicker than custom Apex-based approaches).
