A SnapComms Case Study
UC Irvine Health, the clinical, medical education and research arm of the University of California, Irvine, needed a reliable way to deliver real-time critical communications across its 7,000 users after a previous notification tool proved inconsistent and hard to use. To address urgent, emergency and outage alerts — and to simplify sending for occasional users — UC Irvine Health implemented SnapComms’ Desktop Alert Messages, Desktop News Feeds, Screensaver Messaging and the SnapComms API (locally hosted) beginning in February 2014.
SnapComms delivered a layered solution: urgent and emergency desktop alerts that override screensavers and full-screen apps, a scrolling ticker for widespread updates (used effectively during a 12‑hour data‑center outage), targeted messaging and an API integration into UC Irvine Health’s intranet to give select staff simplified interfaces. As a result, SnapComms provided guaranteed, real-time message delivery, reduced calls into the IT Service Desk, improved reliability of critical communications and made administration and targeted outreach across 7,000 users much easier.
