Boston Children’s Hospital saves $2.5 million with Snapchef

Boston Children’s Hospital faced the challenge of building a new, chef-driven dining venue called The Chef’s Playground without interrupting its existing food service. The original plan to construct a temporary servery was projected to cost $2.5 million. Simultaneously, the hospital needed to recruit and train a specialized culinary team capable of delivering a premium dining experience. They partnered with Snapchef for a staffing and culinary operations solution.

Snapchef implemented an innovative solution that replaced the costly temporary buildout with a Boston Children’s-branded food truck and a rotation of local food trucks, maintaining service throughout construction. Snapchef also recruited, trained, and onboarded 25 full-time culinary team members for the new operation. This approach saved Boston Children’s Hospital $2.5 million, ensured a seamless dining experience during the transition, and resulted in a fully trained and retained world-class culinary team.
