Kent State University delivers efficient CPA through first to market AR Lens campaign

Kent State University, a public research university in Ohio, wanted to build awareness among 16–18-year-olds on Snapchat and drive more undergraduate applications from its core recruitment region.

Working with Harmelin Media, Kent State became the first advertiser in the EDU vertical to use an AR Lens—placing a virtual graduation cap with a movement‑activated tassel that prompted users to tap and apply—while running targeted Snap Ads with strict geo-targeting. The combined campaign produced a cost per sign-up 24% below the university’s goal.
