DNB, Norway's largest financial services group, needed to create transparency between its IT operations and costs. With its service production outsourced, the bank required a way to understand precisely how applications drive expenses to ensure it was receiving the best value from its provider. To meet this challenge, DNB partnered with vendor SMT Data and implemented their IT Business Intelligence (ITBI) solution.

The solution from SMT Data provided DNB with dynamic, near real-time tracking of its IT consumption, replacing static historical reports. This allowed DNB to control costs by identifying irregularities, optimizing resources, and understanding the financial consequences of operational decisions. The implementation resulted in significant savings in their mainframe environment through more accurate reporting and forecasting. The success has led DNB to plan an extension of SMT Data's ITBI solution to other platforms.
