Preview of the Canadian Regional Health Authority Case Study

Canadian Regional Health Authority achieves 54.7% verification with Smile Digital Health

A Canadian regional health authority, responsible for health services for over 150,000 citizens, faced a fragmented and siloed health data landscape. This hindered clinical decision-making and prevented citizens from having centralized access to their records. The urgency for a digital modernization was accelerated by the pandemic. The authority partnered with vendor Smile Digital Health, which provided its OmniVera FHIR engine, to address these critical interoperability challenges.

Smile Digital Health, in collaboration with IDENTOS, implemented a solution that created a centralized FHIR repository and a secure digital identity platform. The results were significant, with 54.7% of users successfully completing identity verification, far exceeding the national average. The system processed over 124,000 secure authentications, and 9 out of 10 citizens opted for online onboarding, demonstrating high adoption and trust in the new platform.
