US Work Zone Technology Company Implements SMATS Traffic Solutions to Support Live Travel Time Data

Salander LLC, a Minneapolis-based leader in technological applications for work zone management for over 15 years, faced a smart work zone challenge: lessen construction impacts on commuters by providing live, accurate travel-time information. To meet this need, Salander selected SMATS Traffic Solutions and its SMATS TrafficXHub™ WiFi & Bluetooth sensors together with the iNode™ data analytics web platform to deliver real-time travel time and origin–destination data.

SMATS Traffic Solutions deployed 15 TrafficXHub™ sensors, creating 22 links and 7 routes and feeding live travel-time data to iNode™ to populate 10 Variable Message Signs (VMS) across the north metro work zone. The SMATS solution delivered accurate, real-time travel times that updated VMS messages, empowered motorists with comparative route information, and helped Salander optimize traffic flow and reduce commuter impacts.
