A SMATS Traffic Solutions Case Study

Preview of the Heritage Canada Case Study

SMATS Sensors Deployed at the Parliament Hill to Measure Lineup Wait Time in Real-time During the Canada Day

Heritage Canada was responsible for delivering Ottawa’s Canada Day celebrations and needed enhanced crowd-management data to provide timely staffing decisions and communicate wait times to attendees. They engaged SMATS Traffic Solutions, using SMATS TrafficBox™ WiFi & Bluetooth sensors and the iNode™ analytics platform to monitor live outdoor lineups.

SMATS Traffic Solutions deployed three TrafficBox™ sensors along the Parliament Hill lineup and used iNode™ to collect encrypted MAC-based WiFi/Bluetooth signals (synced via GSM) to produce real-time wait-time dashboards and posted estimates. The system allowed staff and security partners to adjust staffing and confirm flow efficiency, informed the public of current waits, and delivered exportable data for future event planning, contributing to a smooth Canada Day.
