Collier County uses SMATS iNode™ Data Analytics Platform to Manage their Seasonal Traffic Congestion

Collier County Traffic Operations in southwest Florida faced significant seasonal traffic fluctuations and needed up‑to‑date travel time data to prioritize improvements and tune signal timing. Collecting and analyzing travel time manually was labor-intensive, error‑prone and couldn’t provide continuous county‑wide coverage, so Collier County turned to SMATS Traffic Solutions and its SMATS iNode™ data analytics platform to automate and scale data collection.

SMATS Traffic Solutions implemented iNode™, using integrated crowdsourced data to capture travel time and speed in real time without new hardware and on user-defined schedules. Since September 2019 Collier County has established more than 220 data collection links, automated travel time reporting, used dashboard congestion levels and exportable charts/CSV reports across Traffic Services, and gained the ability to monitor 24/7 and better prioritize roadway and signal improvements.
