City of St. Petersburg uses SMATS iNode™ Crowdsourced Traffic Data Analytics for their Complete Streets Policy Data Needs

The City of St. Petersburg Transportation & Parking Management needed reliable, repeatable travel time and travel-time-reliability data to support its Complete Streets policy but lacked staff capacity and wanted to eliminate labor-intensive, potentially biased manual drive studies. To address this, the City engaged SMATS Traffic Solutions and its iNode™ crowdsourced traffic data analytics platform.

SMATS deployed iNode™ to provide on‑demand, automated travel‑time analytics for nearly every road in the city, with a color-coded dashboard and exportable charts/CSV for further analysis. The City now runs more than 60 monitored links, has automated travel time studies that preserve staff time, and uses SMATS’ visualizations and data across Traffic Services for tasks such as signal timing, lane reallocations, bike lanes, detour planning, transit routing and special‑event traffic management.
