Gary A. Kreitz CPA & Associates is a three-person full-service tax compliance and planning firm in Laguna Hills, CA, founded by CPA Gary Kreitz in 2013. After years of inefficient, paper-based workflows and the discontinuation of Lacerte’s DMS, the firm needed a secure, cloud-based way to store client documents, deliver files, and streamline tax workflows—while also bringing some reluctant clients along for the transition.

Kreitz implemented SmartVault integrated with QuickBooks and Lacerte Tax, scanning source documents, using trial-balance imports to eliminate manual entry, and relying on the SmartVault client portal for secure file delivery and communication. The result: a largely paper-free, more efficient practice with faster turnaround, improved client service and security, better staff productivity and work–life balance, and growing client adoption of online services.
