Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT), a FTSE 250 British insurance, reinsurance and benefits brokerage, created JLT University to address a talent shortage, a clear training gap and the need to invest in people across a diverse Asian region. Faced with scaling consistent, technical learning for about 1,800 employees where face‑to‑face training was too slow, JLT partnered with SmartUp to deploy a learning experience platform and expert support to accelerate engagement and standardize development.

SmartUp implemented its learning experience platform around a Learn/Share/Develop model—easy content upload for mobile learning, social features (chat, comments, likes), and an analytics dashboard—backed by a regional launch (townhalls, CEO video) and ambassador-led roll‑out plus a gamified content/communications plan. The results: ~60% adoption region‑wide (up to 90% in some countries), 400+ modules across seven channels and more than 50,000 module completions to date, demonstrating SmartUp’s measurable impact on engagement, capability building and scalable learning delivery.
