The City of London faced a completely paper-based grants process—applications, contracts and signatures moved by hand, reporting was slow and error-prone, and staff relied on spreadsheets to track $1.8 million in annual grants. To modernize and stay within budget, the City of London selected SmartSimple Cloud (SmartSimple Cloud for Government Funding) to provide a secure, configurable online grants platform.
SmartSimple Cloud centralized applications, documents and approvals, added online signing and configurable workflows, and automated reporting (including past-due reminders), eliminating much of the manual back-and-forth. The implementation saved hours of staff time in processing, reporting and tracking, removed the need for original signatures, and put reporting on an automated three‑year cadence—allowing the City of London to better support grantees and scale the program.
