Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives (IEA) is a North American infrastructure construction firm specializing in energy and heavy-civil work, supporting 150+ renewable servicing projects annually with more than 175 field technicians. As the company grew, reliance on spreadsheets, email, and conference calls made resource management opaque—managers couldn’t easily see technician availability or locations, assignments were often made by gut, and project coordination and customer communications slowed.

Working with DDB Consultants, IEA implemented Smartsheet (including Control Center, automated workflows, and the mobile app with offline capability) to centralize schedules, automate notifications, and deliver real-time dashboards. The solution gave immediate visibility into resource allocation, saved technicians about 50 hours per week on reporting so they can spend more time with customers, improved scheduling and proactive communications, and provided faster operational insights to drive project efficiency.
