Albany State University, a public HBCU in Albany, Georgia with more than 6,000 students, faced growing administrative strain from manual data work: staff were merging spreadsheets from the student information and learning management systems to create attendance, grading, and course-review reports, which left deans and chairs without timely insights and faculty spending too much time on reporting instead of teaching.

By adopting Smartsheet—using Data Shuttle to automate data imports, Dynamic View for controlled access, and forms/workflows for course submissions and test proctoring—Albany State now delivers live dashboards and automated reports. The change cut routine reporting from about four hours a day to roughly 30 minutes, enabled daily instead of weekly reports, sped up test-proctor coordination, made it easier to spot and support at-risk students, and freed faculty and staff to focus more on instruction and course development.
