MC Residential Communities, a nationally recognized multifamily real estate investment company managing more than 9,000 apartment homes, was already experimenting with self-guided tours but lacked the technology to make the experience smooth or scalable. Prospective residents were handed keys and sent out on their own, which created confusion, poor optics, and little opportunity for leasing associates to engage and sell. SmartRent was brought in to modernize the self-touring process.

MC Residential Communities piloted SmartRent at two properties before rolling it out portfolio-wide in February 2021. SmartRent’s secure, no-credit-card verification process, mobile tour access, reminders, and property-level customization helped make self-guided tours easy for both customers and associates. The result was a major increase in traffic, including 8 to 12 additional tours per week at a single property, while giving leasing teams a safer, more flexible way to support prospects and improve ROI.
