CityFibre Hires for Diversity with SmartRecruiters

CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full‑fibre infrastructure platform, has been growing rapidly to connect 8 million homes across more than 285 locations. That growth, combined with an executive-led push for equal opportunities, revealed gaps in its hiring tech: the incumbent ATS couldn’t GDPR‑safely track or aggregate demographic data, nor show how diverse candidates progressed through the recruitment funnel.

By implementing SmartRecruiters—using Report Builder to separate and aggregate demographic data and standardized scorecards to reduce bias—CityFibre gained actionable DEI insights and better stakeholder conversations. In under a year female hires rose from 28% to 34% (50% of QA hires are female), ethnically underrepresented hires increased from 14% to 21%, and the company retained its place on the Times Top 50 Employers for Women.
