CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full-fibre infrastructure platform, was facing a people challenge after rapid growth: with headcount up 80% over two years and a nationwide rollout nearing completion, the company needed to enable internal mobility and streamline employee referrals. Before, vacancies were promoted in Teams and employees applied by email/Word, leaving no centralized visibility or reliable referral tracking.

CityFibre deployed the SmartRecruiters Employee Portal with SSO access via the intranet, giving employees searchable job listings, alerts, a simple internal application flow that notifies managers, and a clear referral-tracking interface. In the first three months the portal helped produce 21% of hires from internal moves, 19% from referrals, and 100+ job-alert signups—reducing recruiting costs and boosting employee engagement.
