A Smartrak Case Study
Wannon Water, Victoria’s second largest regional urban water corporation by service area, needed a better way to calculate fuel tax credits for its fleet of over 100 vehicles. Previously, the team made very conservative manual claims, largely limited to plant and equipment, because they lacked the evidence needed to support more comprehensive submissions.
Working with **Smartrak** and Nuonic, Wannon Water used Smartrak’s fleet management platform and APIs to analyze vehicle, plant, and equipment data and identify eligible fuel tax credit activities such as off-road travel, idling, and equipment operation. With Smartrak’s solution, Wannon Water increased claims from about $500 a month to $3,000–4,000 a month across 115 vehicles, and also successfully reviewed and resubmitted claims for the previous four years.
