Unison Networks, a New Zealand electricity network operator serving the Hawke’s Bay, Taupo and Rotorua regions, needed a better way to manage a large and growing vehicle fleet. To improve vehicle and manpower efficiency, reduce hidden fleet costs, and gain accurate operational data, the company turned to Smartrak and its GPS tracking/AVL solution.

Smartrak implemented real-time vehicle tracking for Unison, expanding from just over 60 vehicles to more than 170 over time. The system improved fleet utilization, driver identification, maintenance and service reminders, and Fringe Benefit Tax analysis, while also supporting staff safety and easier administration. Unison also noted Smartrak’s proactive support and ongoing product enhancements, including a new fleet management module and data exports into its reporting database.
