Taupo District Council, based in New Zealand’s Taupo District, needed to improve staff safety, increase fleet efficiency, and reduce the administrative burden of claiming Road User Charges for off-road travel. The council looked to install GPS units in selected fleet vehicles and evaluated multiple vendors before choosing Smartrak.
Smartrak implemented a GPS tracking solution with accurate, reliable units, software, and ongoing support. The result was automated off-road travel recording for easier RUC claims, better driver monitoring to help reduce unsafe behaviour, lower fuel and maintenance costs, improved road safety, and more efficient fleet management through coordinated servicing, WOF, RUC renewals, and pool booking.
