Vijesti, Montenegro’s leading independent news organisation, was looking to move from a print-first mindset to a more digital, data-informed approach. Working with Smartocto and Internews, it wanted better insight into audience engagement, consumption patterns, and the right future subscription strategy, while also helping more journalists in the newsroom use data confidently.

Smartocto supported Vijesti with access to the Smartocto Insights tool, data onboarding, and regular training and consulting sessions, while Internews provided mentoring. The project helped Vijesti begin turning analytics into actionable newsroom reporting, with custom reports shared across the editor-in-chief and six section editors, improving data literacy and enabling more meaningful analysis of content performance as a foundation for future subscriptions and digital growth.
