A Smartlook Case Study
Disqo, the operator of the Survey Junkie research community, faced the challenge of getting reliable user feedback and fixing user-facing problems in a privacy-first world (GDPR/CCPA) — from signup and reward-redemption failures to pages that wouldn’t load. In 2017 Disqo adopted Smartlook’s behavior-analytics tools (recordings and Events manager) so customer support could find users by ID/email, filter by location, and watch real sessions to diagnose issues.
Smartlook was then rolled out to product and engineering teams, creating a shared workflow using recordings, events, retention tables and automated reports (later enhanced by Smartlook NextGen and anomaly detection). That cross-team approach led to measurable gains — most notably a 20% increase in successful registrations — faster bug triage and proactive issue prevention, plus improved privacy controls and environment switching. Disqo continues to expand Smartlook usage (including planned mobile SDK integration) to further streamline debugging and reduce churn.
