A SmartKargo Case Study
Azul Airlines, a major Brazilian airline, sought to create new revenue streams by expanding its cargo division into e-commerce logistics. The challenge was to build a scalable and flexible dock-to-door service to efficiently ship small packages across Brazil's vast and challenging geography. To address this, Azul partnered with the vendor SmartKargo to implement its end-to-end shipping solution.
The solution from SmartKargo was a comprehensive cloud-based platform that integrated e-commerce APIs, warehouse management, and real-time tracking. It enabled Azul to deploy a network of franchisees for first and last-mile delivery. This implementation allowed Azul to fly over 1.5 million shipments monthly and dramatically increase its logistics revenue, which reached BRL 1.1 billion in 2021, more than doubling its pre-implementation earnings and establishing it as a dominant market leader.
