Amcor, a global leader in packaging, sought to improve safety compliance and employee engagement at its production site in Ghent. The challenge involved digitizing mandatory safety inspections and incident reporting, which were previously paper-based and inefficient, to gain 100% certainty on legal compliance and provide timely feedback to its 1,500 employees. They partnered with the vendor Smartflow to develop a digital solution.

Smartflow implemented a custom mobile app that digitized the entire safety workflow, integrating with Amcor's ERP system and providing features like photo/video, GPS, and automated feedback. This solution provided Amcor with complete control over its legal safety requirements and contributed to its goal of zero incidents. The measurable result was a significant and sustained reduction in the recordable case frequency rate, which dropped from 4.0 in 2011 to 2.0 and remained there through 2016.
