Old Dominion University (ODU), a public research university with more than 24,000 students, faced fragmented, manual proctoring workflows— instructors emailing exams, proctors printing and hand-delivering or exchanging emails, and no centralized way to manage on-campus, local, and online testing. After piloting the platform, ODU turned to SmarterServices and its SmarterProctoring solution to provide an enterprise-level, secure proctoring system that could accommodate all learners and modalities.
SmarterServices implemented a written‑exam workflow inside SmarterProctoring so instructors can upload exams, proctors can download/print and securely scan completed, student‑specific exams back into the 100% browser-based system, and instructors receive instant notifications. The centralized SmarterProctoring platform eliminated email and hand-delivery steps, reduced administrative burden for instructors and proctors, improved security and reliability, and enabled students to self-schedule and complete proctored exams more independently.
