Aeronautics School Utilizes SmarterMeasure to Increase Student Success

Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology faced low first-year retention and needed a reliable way to determine which students were a good fit for its online programs. The college had implemented the SmarterMeasure Student Readiness Indicator from SmarterServices in 2016 but needed to learn how to use that data to drive advising and retention improvements.

SmarterServices’ SmarterMeasure data was used to assess students’ technical competency, learning styles, and life factors, enabling Spartan College to match students to online vs. in-person courses, pair them with advisors, and share learning-pattern insights with instructors via the LMS. By requiring every first-year student to take SmarterMeasure and using the results for targeted advising, Spartan College improved student success, identified better program fits, and increased its first-year retention rate.
