Linux Foundation Education Transforms and Simplifies Scholarship Program with SmarterSelect

Linux Foundation Education used SmarterSelect to manage the LIFT Scholarship Program as applications grew from hundreds to thousands each year. Before adopting the platform, the team relied on Google Sheets, HubSpot, and manual reviews, which made it difficult to manage more than 3,000 applications from more than 100 countries, coordinate review spreadsheets, handle applicant communications, and match expert reviewers across 16 categories.

With SmarterSelect, Linux Foundation Education created a single-system application process, automated initial screening, assigned category-specific reviewers, and improved communication and document collection. The foundation processed over 3,400 applications across 16 categories, awarded 500 scholarships to recipients from 111 countries, and said the platform eliminated 85 to 90% of its headaches while saving an expected 75% of administrative time in future years.
