UK Power Networks - Customer Case Study

The customer, UK Power Networks, faced a significant challenge with a large volume of connection applications for renewable generation. Traditional grid reinforcement methods were prohibitively expensive and resulted in very long connection timelines. To address this, they worked with the vendor Smarter Grid Solutions.

Smarter Grid Solutions implemented its Strata Grid Active Network Management system, which provided real-time constraint management and managed hosting capacity. This solution dramatically reduced connection lead times from years to weeks and avoided tens of millions of pounds in grid upgrade costs, enabling over 20 generators totalling 100 MW of renewable capacity to be connected.
