Nussbaum Transportation, a 70-year-old truckload carrier with a 340-truck fleet, faced a familiar challenge: abundant fuel, vehicle and safety data but no way to turn it into actionable insight about driver skills and risk. Jeremy Stickling, director of human resources and safety, wanted to link behavioral data to vehicle systems to predict and prevent incidents rather than just report them after the fact, while also winning driver acceptance for any new monitoring program.

Nussbaum implemented SmartDrive SmartIQ, a video-based analytics platform that combines ECM, g-force and video data to score drivers on smooth driving, speed and spacing and to stream fuel- and performance-related metrics into existing systems.
