Municipality of The Hague converts 1,000 templates with SmartDocuments

The Municipality of The Hague faced the challenge of separating document templates from their data as they transitioned from WordPerfect to Microsoft Word over 15 years ago. They needed a new system to manage a vast number of templates for their numerous departments and permit applications. To solve this, the municipality partnered with SmartDocuments to convert and manage their new Word templates.

SmartDocuments implemented a solution that involved converting approximately 1,000 WordPerfect templates into structured Word templates and creating custom integrations, including a link to the municipality's permit system to generate documents directly from XML data. The project, which took about a year, was a major success. SmartDocuments' work saved the municipality significant time by eliminating manual cutting and pasting, resulting in letters that are quick to draft and require minimal user interaction. The customer was highly satisfied with the personal collaboration and the effective, nearly invisible solution provided by SmartDocuments.
