Case Study: Logrus IT achieves 400,000-word weekend subtitle translation with Smartcat

A Smartcat Case Study

Preview of the Logrus IT Case Study

Logrus IT. 400,000 words over the weekend

Logrus IT, a Philadelphia‑headquartered translation company with offices in China, South Korea, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, faced the urgent challenge of translating 400,000 words of television subtitles across multiple simultaneous events in a single weekend. To meet the deadline they mobilized over 130 people into nine teams, ran two 12‑hour shifts, and used two CAT tools in parallel — including Smartcat’s browser‑based CAT editor — as an alternative to their offline SDL Trados Studio workflow.

Smartcat’s cloud, collaborative platform — offering real‑time segment status updates, built‑in tag control, in‑editor comments/chat, easy reassignment of resources and no per‑user license fees — enabled rapid onboarding, more translation time per shift (about 3 hours vs. 2 in the Trados teams), and reduced PM overhead (one PM vs. two). The result: the nine teams completed the 400,000‑word (2,000 hours of work) project on time, with high user ratings for ease of mastery (4.94/5), ease of use (4.61/5) and operational speed (4.17/5), demonstrating measurable gains in throughput and team flexibility thanks to Smartcat.
