Turo increases car sharing with Smartcar

Turo, the peer-to-peer car sharing marketplace, needed a way to reduce the logistical burden on hosts who were often meeting guests in person to exchange keys, especially for multi-car hosts with back-to-back trips. To solve this, Turo turned to Smartcar and its location and lock/unlock APIs to create a more flexible, contactless check-in and check-out experience.

With Smartcar, Turo launched Turo Go, which lets hosts link their cars in just four clicks and allows guests to locate and unlock vehicles directly from the Turo app. The results were strong: hosts reported saving time and sharing cars more easily, more than 90% wanted all of their vehicles to be Turo Go-enabled, and 34% of hosts who opted in said they listed more cars because of it. Smartcar also helped Turo expand into additional vehicle data use cases, such as checking fuel levels and mileage automatically.
