Smartcar and emovis partner to power road-usage charge program

Emovis, the toll-based mobility services provider from Abertis Mobility Services, needed a fair and sustainable way to support Utah’s road usage charge program as fuel tax revenue declined and more vehicles became fuel-efficient or electric. To reduce friction for participants, Emovis looked for a simpler way to verify mileage without requiring extra hardware for newer vehicles.

Smartcar provided its hardware-free mileage verification API, enabling newer vehicle owners to connect their cars in just three clicks through the Emovis app. Emovis then retrieved odometer readings directly from the vehicle at regular intervals, eliminating the need for OBD devices or odometer photo uploads for those vehicles. With Smartcar, Emovis improved onboarding speed and efficiency, increased conversions, and received positive participant feedback about the easy setup.
