A Smartcar Case Study

Smartcar and eDRV partner to let EV owners charge without a mobile app

eDRV, an EV charging management platform for multi-family homes, workplaces, commercial units, and fleets, wanted to make charging easier for drivers across a wide range of EV models. Its challenge was to offer a seamless charging experience without requiring owners to download a mobile app or use a physical card. To solve this, eDRV partnered with Smartcar to power its new Plug & Go solution.

With Smartcar’s APIs, eDRV can identify a plugged-in vehicle by retrieving its location and VIN, then automatically start charging and monitor state of charge, range, and charging status. The result is an app-less, four-click onboarding experience that makes EV charging more convenient for drivers and simpler for operators. Smartcar’s technology also enables eDRV to support Tesla drivers first, with expansion to more EVs and countries planned.
