Recurrent, the used EV marketplace and battery analytics company, needed a fast way to build a large, diverse data pool across thousands of electric vehicles from different manufacturers so it could train its predictive battery models. The challenge was accessing reliable vehicle data at scale without spending months building and maintaining integrations with individual automakers.

Using Smartcar’s EV APIs and platform, Recurrent securely connected vehicle owners and retrieved battery and vehicle data such as mileage, range estimates, state of charge, and charging status. Smartcar helped Recurrent onboard over 1,300 vehicles in the first month and later gather data from thousands of EVs daily, resulting in nearly 5 million unique data points across 18 EV models and accelerating development by an estimated 6 to 12 months.
