How FlexCharging helps EV drivers reduce carbon emissions through managed charging

FlexCharging, a U.S.-based EV managed charging platform, helps utilities and drivers shift electric vehicle charging to off-peak hours while respecting driver needs. To expand beyond one-off EV brand integrations and support a broader range of vehicles, the company needed a scalable way to identify connected EVs, monitor charging data, and automate charging decisions across many makes and models.

Using Smartcar’s APIs, FlexCharging built a single integration covering 41 EV models across 15 brands, allowing drivers to connect their car in just four clicks. With Smartcar, FlexCharging can monitor state of charge, check charging status, and start or stop charging at optimal times to reduce costs and carbon emissions. The solution also helps calculate emissions reductions and driver savings after each session, while supporting clean charge rewards and utility incentive programs.
