Bidgely, an energy intelligence platform for utilities, wanted to move beyond passively recommending when EV drivers should charge and instead give utilities a way to actively manage EV charging. To do that, Bidgely used Smartcar’s EV API and Smartcar Connect to connect directly to vehicles, improve onboarding, and enable direct load control for households with electric vehicles.

With Smartcar, Bidgely launched its EV Active Managed Charging solution in 2023, integrating with 25 EV OEMs through a single API and helping utilities automate charging when electricity is cheapest, cleanest, and least stressful on the grid. Smartcar’s platform gave Bidgely standardized access to key charging data and remote start/stop controls, supporting a solution that already helped utilities achieve over 75% load shift and streamline customer onboarding with minimal touchpoints.
