How Amp X integrates with EVs to maintain grid flexibility

Amp X, the technology arm of Amp Energy, needed a scalable way to help EV drivers manage charging across many vehicle brands and models while supporting grid flexibility. To solve this, the company turned to Smartcar’s API for direct EV integration in its ALICE smart charging platform, instead of relying on charger-based communication or custom integrations for each car brand.

With Smartcar, Amp X was able to onboard users through a software-only consent flow and access standardized vehicle data such as battery status, charge status, location, and remote start/stop charging. Smartcar helped Amp X integrate with over 100 EV models, deploy its smart charging feature in the UK Living Lab, and reduce users’ EV charging costs by 33% while improving uptime and reducing maintenance effort.
