Emulate Energy, a U.S.- and Sweden-based energy storage company, helps retail electricity providers manage electricity demand and improve margins during the energy transition. To expand its virtual battery platform beyond thermostats and other smart devices, Emulate needed a scalable way to integrate electric vehicles without building custom connections for every make and model.

Using Smartcar’s API, Emulate enabled REPs to connect EVs in just four clicks and access location, battery state of charge, and charging controls through Smartcar’s location, EV battery, and start/stop charge APIs. With Smartcar, Emulate can intelligently delay or speed up EV charging at optimal times to balance grid demand, support cleaner and cheaper electricity, and deliver a more efficient demand response solution for customers across North America and Europe.
