Akademie Der Naturheilkunde, a distance learning institute for holistic nutritionists, faced a challenge with its existing Moodle web platform. The navigation between large courses with different levels of nesting was difficult for students, and the client needed a mobile solution that could handle future content changes like a shift from PDF to SCORM. They partnered with SmartApp to develop a mobile application to address these issues.

SmartApp developed a React Native mobile app integrated with the Moodle platform. The solution featured a clear information architecture for course nesting and introduced new features like PDF notes, bookmarks, search, and offline downloading to significantly improve the user experience. The result was a modern, user-friendly learning app for iOS and Android that met the client's goals. The project required over 1600 hours of work from a 14-person team, resulting in 55 design layouts.
