Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), one of the largest U.S. districts with about 166,000 students, operates under a strategic multiyear technology plan to modernize instruction and meet state standards. The district’s main challenge was to effectively integrate education technology into the K–12 curriculum across a large, diverse set of schools.

Through its K12Nects partnership and corporate sponsorship from Verizon, FCPS implemented SMART Board interactive whiteboards district-wide, enabling teachers to use websites, educational software, live video, recording, and interactive lesson tools. The rollout increased teacher productivity and student performance across all grade levels while providing an interactive, cost-effective classroom solution.
