Case Study: SCHOTTEL Group achieves faster, more effective interactive training with SMART Technologies

A SMART Technologies Case Study

Preview of the The Schottel Group Case Study

The ability to quickly start and easily deliver interactive training sessions optimises the delivery of product knowledge.

SCHOTTEL Group, a global manufacturer of ship propulsion and steering systems based in Spay, Germany, launched the SCHOTTEL Academy to deliver over 150 training modules to customers, service engineers and staff. As propulsion systems grew more complex, traditional projectors, whiteboards and flipcharts proved slow and awkward—causing long setup times, shadowing, and cumbersome note capture—so the academy sought an intuitive interactive solution to make technical training more effective.

The company equipped four training rooms with SMART Board 685i interactive whiteboards and mini PCs, enabling 40 trainers to run interactive sessions with direct access to corporate resources. In the first year the boards supported more than 200 sessions (1,400 participants), cutting setup time, improving 3D visualization of complex components, increasing trainer adoption and participant learning, and driving higher customer satisfaction and demand for training—plans are underway to expand the solution to additional sites.
