Teachers use new interactive system to connect with students

Bowcroft Elementary School in Calgary, where teacher Frank Moeller runs a German bilingual program for grades 1–2, faced the challenge of keeping young, diverse learners engaged while quickly gauging comprehension and reducing the time spent creating and grading assessments. Teachers needed a way to deliver interactive lessons, gather immediate feedback, and adapt instruction to meet different learning styles.

The school implemented the Senteo interactive response system with SMART Board interactive whiteboards, giving each student a handheld remote to answer questions anonymously. Responses are tallied and displayed as charts in real time, enabling instant formative assessment, increased student engagement, and reduced grading time. The system integrates with Notebook and common productivity software, supporting use across subjects and instructional formats.
