SMART’s collaboration solutions enable O2 to work better, connected

O2 Telefónica Europe, a telecoms group serving millions of customers with 29,000 employees, needed to consolidate three Slough offices into one site and improve inter‑departmental collaboration while cutting travel, time and costs. With only 47 meeting rooms (half the previous capacity) and inefficient room setup processes, O2 required a faster, more productive way for dispersed teams to meet and share information.

O2 trialed SMART Technologies’ collaboration tools—SMART Board interactive whiteboards, SMART Podium pen displays and Bridgit conferencing software—installing solutions across meeting rooms and ‘Our Space’ areas. Conferences can be set up in under three minutes, meetings are run remotely with shared digital ink and desktops, and staff training/support was provided. The changes reduced travel, let teams combine meetings into a single day (saving senior staff about a day a month), enabled a project to finish three months early, and could save up to £15,000 a week if 25% of staff use the tools, with wider rollout planned.
