Scottish Water embraces SMART solutions to serve its five million customers

Scottish Water, the publicly owned utility responsible for delivering drinking water and wastewater services across Scotland to around five million customers, needed to lift performance, inspire staff and speed up decision‑making. From its Dunfermline head office it coordinates a vast network and dispersed field teams, but collaboration was limited to flipcharts, conventional whiteboards and projectors.

Scottish Water installed four SMART Board interactive whiteboards (one per meeting room), refurbished spaces and provided staff training so teams could use touchscreen controls, digital inking, live annotation and instant distribution of meeting outputs. The boards have improved creativity, collaboration and the speed and unanimity of decisions, cut travel and admin time, delivered early cost and environmental savings, and are being rolled out to other offices.
