Queen Elizabeth School Old Students’ Association Tong Kwok Wah Secondary School

Queen Elizabeth School Old Students’ Association Tong Kwok Wah Secondary School (TKW Secondary School) in Hong Kong, established in 2005 with 310 Form 1 students, sought to digitize classrooms and make active learning more interactive. Teachers wanted to integrate visual and audio materials (many available on textbook CDs) but found it awkward to switch between different media, limiting student participation and enthusiasm.

Between August 2005 and August 2006 the school installed 36 SMART Board interactive whiteboards, enabling seamless use of videos, images, interactive slides and online content, and allowing teachers to save and reuse lessons. The result was higher student receptiveness and responsiveness, greater participation and interest, simplified lesson prep (saving time and paper), and a more engaging, multimedia-rich learning environment.
